I Still Believe In a Person Name Hope

As I've pointed out in previous posts, I'm a political dork who loves when politics and comedy come together. One of the great entertainers of our time, Mr. Bob Hope, is on the Mt. Rushmore of Political Comedy and his jokes still hold up today:

“There are so many congressmen and senators here. I don’t know whether to tell a joke or pass a bill.” (Pause) “As if there was a difference.”

Recently, a new exhibition opened at the Library of Congress called "Hope for America: Performers, Politics, and Pop Culture." The NYTimes review of the new exhibit can be found here. If you are a fan of Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert or countless other comedians who make fun of politics, take a trip to DC and learn about one of the masters. And the next time a big election year roles around, and you get tired of hearing the same old rhetoric, think of Mr. Hope who put the two-paryy system best:

“No one party can fool all of the people all of the time. That’s why we have two parties.”

An actor who likes politics...I smell a trend

How cool is this story??  Kal Penn -- of Harold and Kumar fame -- gave up his job as a cast member of FOX's House to take a position in the Obama Administration.  Penn will be an associate director in the public liaison office.  Maybe I will find myself moving back to politics one day after all?  But we all know my liberal ass will be in the Alec Baldwin/Sean Penn category rather than Ronnie Reagan/Governator one.

The Ultimate Let Down

Do you have any idea who this is?? He is no other than one of WWF's biggest names -- and my favorite wrestler growing -- The Ultimate Warrior.  In a great post on Pop Candy today, there was a "Where are they now?" article on some of the WWF's greats.  I loved the Warrior growing up -- I was even him for Halloween one year.  However, I've learned that he is the Ultimate Letdown these.  His new career is as a motivational speaker and is a HUGE conservative.  I don't mid the fact that he's a conservative, I mind that his definition of not being PC means he can say things like "queering doesn't make the world work."  More like the Ultimate Asshole.
